Sunken Cities: Egypt’s Lost Worlds

A collection of films for the British Museum’s exhibition of underwater archaeology documenting some incredible discoveries.

This exhibition dived beneath the Mediterranean to see the recent finds of eminent underwater archaeologist Franck Goddio in Aboukir Bay, near Alexandria.

A large-scale narrated film opened the exhibition, introducing the excavation work and the rediscovery of the sunken cities of Thonis-Heracleion and Canopus. NewAngle incorporated stunning footage taken by Goddio’s team showing the divers retrieving some of the thousand-year-old artefacts on display in the exhibition.

We also used the incredible footage to produce six silent films of some key discoveries, while underwater soundscapes completed the experience.
