A Family in Wartime

A beautifully crafted touchscreen interactive about a typical family home during the Second World War.

This permanent display tells how ordinary people braved the challenges of life on the home front, as seen through a typical London house.

To accompany a physical model of the Allpress family’s former home, NewAngle were commissioned to create an interactive 3D digital replica where visitors can find more details.

Via touchscreens, users can navigate the rooms of the house and read information about life during the war. Everyday items such as blackout curtains, the radio, and a coal-fired oven are pointed out, alongside descriptions of their significance at the time. Pop-up information includes text, ephemera, archive photographs and footage.
