‘Locomotion’ is a new Museum at Shildon in the North East of England, on the site of the first steam railway in the world.
Shildon is one of the world’s oldest railway towns. This new museum gives recognition to the significance of Shildon in railway history and of railways to the Shildon community.
Newangle were commissioned to produce all the audiovisual programmes for the new museum.
In April 2004, Newangle began production on programmes for seven areas within the museum. The most spectacular of these is shown in the Welcome Building on three interlinked 42” plasma screens at the start of the visitor experience. This 5 minute introduction combines archive images with sophisticated motion graphics to tell visitors something of the birth of the railways and give them an insight to the exhibition they are about to see.
