These new permanent galleries at the British Museum explore the development of the clock from the first medieval mechanical timepieces through to modern precision time-keeping.
Newangle were commissioned to produce a 3D animation that sits at the entrance to the gallery and helps the visitor understand the five basic principles of mechanical timekeeping and apply these principles to other clocks in the gallery.
The animation is based on an existing clock, the Cassiobury Park turret clock, and the screen playing the animation is housed in front of the clock. The clock has no casing and so the different moving parts are easy to see and relate back to the animation. |
